TERESE GENECCO: Home
"There were no 'mice' in the Ratpack - it was strictly an all-boy's club. But if Frank, Dean and Sammy ever returned from the Great Casino in the Sky, the first youngish female singer that I'd recommend to join their clan is this high-voltage entertainer. Ms. Genecco is deeply rooted in the early 1960s, the colorful last gasp of the era of swingin' lovers, and, as such, draws equally from Louis Prima and Sammy Davis on one hand and Ray Charles and Elvis on the other. She and her three horns and five rhythm put on an unstoppable juggernaut of a set at the Iridium, with one hard-hitting swinger after another, pausing only for what she describes as a mandatory 'two-ballad maximum.' The calendar may say Dec. 28, but Ms. Genecco makes every show seem like New Year's Eve."

WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING...
"There's a monthly party going on in New York and you're all invited! Don't be crying in your beer if you miss your chance to see Terese Genecco at Iridium while the ticket is still reasonably priced and before she moves on to the world's great halls! The irrepressible Genecco - an old-school, world class entertainer the likes of which many decry that they don't make anymore - bounds onto the stage with her eight piece band... this dynamo - like many of the greats before her - is short in stature but gigantic in talent and charisma! Someone should be writing a show for this woman. If the powers that be think there are no new big stars to be found, they aren't looking hard enough. My suggestion? Get yourself down to the Iridium on the last Tuesday of the month. Pronto. This kind of comet doesn't pass our way nearly often enough!" ~ Kevin Scott Hall for EDGE New York
"A dynamo! Infectious energy would be putting it mildly... Infused with quicksilver jazz and swing... Packed with Rat Pack punch! Saucy and bossy - in a winking way. The addiction grows. Check it out. Come to a meeting. My name is Rob and I am a Geneccoholic!" ~Rob Lester for www.NiteLifeExchange.com
"Terese Genecco and Her Little Big Band make the Iridium Jazz Club their living room, filling the close space with hep cat Rat Pack tunes, plenty of sass and 50's style conga rhythms...Jokes and music with charm and ring-a-ding-ding pizazz...Yesteryear brazenness and breezy showmanship... It's easy to see why she's Broadway's longest running nightclub act. Iridium is definitely one of the best jazz/blues/rock clubs in the city and is the perfect venue to catch a retro cool act like Terese Genecco's." ~Sonya Alexander for www.Examiner.com NYC
"If you don't know Terese Genecco, you should. She's a pint-sized dynamo...neither precious nor twee...but rather vivacious, funny and gifted with the need to swing in a big, bold way... It's a gloomy world out there, but with Terese Genecco and her Little Big Band in the house, it's a whole lot brighter!" ~Chad Jones for www.Examiner.com SF
"This super fun singer swings! San Francisco's marvelous 'Entertainer of the Year' - Terese Genecco - whose previous two sets ranked among TONY's top ten in both 2006 and 2007 - returns to NYC. Goosed by a cooking [eight-piece] band, Genecco's snappy, zippy swing leaves you feeling happily woven into an inner circle of frisky retro fun!" ~Adam Feldman for Time Out New York Magazine
"The 'love child' of Dean Martin and Judy Garland!" ~Leslie Katz for The San Francisco Examiner (print newspaper)
"Genecco throws a high-energy musical party with a swingin' band, a hip crowd, and lots of cocktails!" ~Pat Craig for The Contra Costa Times
"Powerhouse vocalist Terese Genecco is back on stage once a month for two sets at The Iridium and she’s shaking the rafters! Having moved to the Big Apple from California, she’s on her way to becoming a mainstay on the jazz/cabaret circuit here in New York. She brings strength, energy and joy to the stage and to her songs and her band clearly responds in kind. New songs and new arrangements. You don’t want to miss her!" ~Sandy Durrell for Cabaret Scenes Magazine NYC
Terese Genecco swings SF like it's Vegas! Genecco’s sheer personality lights up the stage as much as her vocals in a Las Vegas-style performance that amusingly has a two-drink minimum and a two-ballad maximum. Cabaret lovers won't want to miss her!" ~ Leslie Katz for The San Francisco Examiner
"Genecco sings like Keely Smith with the energy of Louis Prima!"
~Platinum Selling Jazz Singer/Composer/Lyricist Mark Winkler

TIME OUT NEW YORK magazine fell in love with Terese, calling her tribute show, "DRUNK WITH LOVE:A TRIBUTE TO FRANCES FAYE!" one of their TOP LIVE SHOWS for the week of October 12th, 2006 and the TOP 5 MUST-SEE SHOWS in NYC on Tuesday, August 31st, 2010. Their former Arts & Entertainment Editor (now with the NY Post,) Elisabeth Vincentelli, wrote on her blogsite: "Genecco is more wattage - and fun - than an entire evening of Rufus Wainwright at Carnegie Hall!"
Terese is regularly joined on stage by the legendary "MR BONGO" himself, JACK COSTANZO who played on Frances Faye's live, 1958 LP, "Caught In The Act!" And let's not forget the rest of the *little big band* in NYC with the following personnel: BARRY LEVITT on piano, SEAN HARKNESS on guitar, KENNY LAVENDER on trumpet, CLIFF LYONS on tenor sax, MARK MILLER on trombone, RAY MARCHICA on drums, MAYRA CASALES on Latin Percussion, and TOM HUBBARD on bass. Terese employs a phenomenal line-up of musicians in every city, who continually blow the roof off whatever venue they find themselves in.
As one reviewer wrote, "Fifty years from now,
someone will be doing a tribute show to Terese Genecco!"
